Selling a Medical or Aesthetic Practice in Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale anchors Broward County, South Florida's second-largest metro and a market distinct from Miami-Dade. A PE-backed platform, Inspire Aesthetics with Hidden Harbor Capital Partners, already runs an open clinic in Broward, and the firm describes the platform as based right here in Fort Lauderdale. That demand is real and local, and Florida's ownership-friendly law makes a transfer cleaner here than in stricter states. We represent Fort Lauderdale owners only, and we build the deal around the buyer already operating in your county.

No authoritative Broward County med-spa count is citable within the state cap, so density is framed at the verified state level. Florida counts roughly 1,180 medical spas per Orbital's April 2026 figures, first nationally out of 10,488, and Fort Lauderdale anchors South Florida's second-largest metro with a confirmed PE-backed operator on the ground. Treat the state figure as a data-set estimate, not a state-certified statistic.

Market Reality

The largest med spa state in the country, and Broward is its own center of gravity.

Florida is the largest med spa state in the country, and there is no authoritative Broward-only count to quote, so we frame density at the state level and let the local record speak: a verified PE-backed platform already operates an open clinic in this metro. That is the consolidation demand a Broward seller is sitting on. Treat the figure as a data-set estimate, not a state-certified statistic.

What Moves Value Here

There is no Fort Lauderdale multiple. There is Broward demand, Florida structure, and your numbers.

No Fort Lauderdale-specific sale multiple is published, and we will not invent one. The honest anchor is the national vertical range already on our med spa, cosmetic dermatology, and plastic surgery hubs. What changes a Fort Lauderdale seller's realized value is how the deal gets built and how much verified buyer competition you bring to the table. Florida's law lets ownership transfer more cleanly, and a PE-backed platform already operating in Broward means real bidders, but neither one creates a published county multiple. Three levers move a Broward seller's realized value far more than any geographic multiple: cleaner ownership transfer under Florida's direct-ownership rules, real bidding from the verified PE-backed buyer already operating in your county, and a clean book with current licensure and documented provider arrangements. Those win a premium here rather than a discount.

We reference the national vertical multiple range published on our practice-type hubs; no Fort Lauderdale-specific multiple exists in a citable, defensible form. Value is moved more by deal structure, compliance readiness, and verified buyer competition than by a geographic multiple. Your real range comes from a confidential, practice-specific analysis of your earnings, your structure, and your comps.

Who Is Actually Buying in Broward County

A PE-backed platform already runs an open clinic in Fort Lauderdale.

A Broward County seller is not waiting on hypothetical demand. Inspire Aesthetics, backed by Hidden Harbor Capital Partners after an investment announced on January 6, 2022, operates an open clinic at 1501 SE 17th St Causeway, Unit A, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316. Hidden Harbor's own release describes the platform as based in Delray Beach and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, which puts a verified private-equity operator inside this metro by name and by address. The national body contouring chain Sono Bello also keeps a Fort Lauderdale location at 6400 N Andrews Ave, a second signal that well-capitalized acquirers treat Broward as a market worth holding ground in, distinct from Miami-Dade to the south. These are confirmed, currently documented locations taken from the companies' own pages and the sponsor's press release. They are the consolidation signal a Fort Lauderdale owner is sitting on.

The State Rules, In Brief

Florida law widens who can buy you, and that helps a Fort Lauderdale seller.

Florida has no corporate-practice-of-medicine doctrine, which puts it among the most ownership-friendly states in the country for a sale, and that flexibility is part of why a PE-backed buyer like Hidden Harbor could move into Broward County the way it did. Where stricter states like New York and California force a buyer into a friendly-PC and a separate management company shell, a non-physician or private equity buyer in Florida can frequently take direct ownership instead, which widens your buyer pool and can mean a faster, cleaner close. The real compliance hook here is not ownership but the Health Care Clinic Act, administered by the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration: a practice needs a Health Care Clinic License when it is not 100% physician-owned and it bills insurance, while a fully physician-owned or cash-pay-only practice generally does not trigger it. A missing or lapsed license, when one is required, is exactly the item a buyer's counsel uses to discount or delay. The full statutory treatment, including the felony exposure detail, lives on our Florida state hub. Ownership flexibility does not remove the referral and supervision rules a Broward buyer's counsel checks in diligence. Under s. 456.054, Florida Statutes, it is unlawful for any health care provider to offer, pay, solicit, or receive a kickback, directly or indirectly, for referring or soliciting patients, and a violation is treated as patient brokering. Under s. 458.331(1)(i), Florida Statutes, a physician can face license discipline for paying or receiving any commission, bonus, kickback, or rebate, or entering any split-fee arrangement in any form whatsoever tied to a referral, so an informal finder's-fee or referral-commission arrangement with a local practice or influencer is exactly the kind of file a buyer walks away from. If a Fort Lauderdale location uses an APRN or physician assistant performing dermatologic or aesthetic skin-care services without an on-site supervising physician, s. 458.348(3)(c), Florida Statutes sets the standard: the supervising physician must be board certified or board eligible in dermatology or plastic surgery, each satellite office must sit within 25 miles of the primary practice or a contiguous county, no two offices can be more than 75 miles apart, and a physician may supervise only one office beyond the primary location. A practice that offers laser or light-based hair removal through electrologists needs those providers working under a physician's direct supervision and responsibility, with jointly written protocols on file, per Florida Department of Health guidance.
